Compassion is key

September 27, 2010

A relationship can be draining

When you are straining

To right what was never wrong

Take a step back, allow space, get a better perspective

And perhaps the disharmony can become a song

.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:

In  space there’s  no up or down

Relationships bring two points of view

And no right or wrong

The two together make that whole

There are spheres you can go around

To understand each other, you’ve to see their perspective

Meteors to avoid

Know what can and can’t be handled

And comets that light the void

Allow help from the advice of wise ones

.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:

There’s a freedom in knowing

That the connection between all

That famed gravitational pull

Is not love as in attachment

But love as in compassion

And there’s always that element of surprise.

“To right what was never wrong” struck me. How many times in our lives do we try to fix what isn’t broken, simply because we can’t step back and see the whole picture. Perspective and compassion are so important. Beautiful poetry you have written, Meenakshi… Thanks for sharing it!

Barbara, somehow that phrase shook me too. It has helped me to understand that in matters of right and wrong, we need to start from the space of a human BEing before moving to human DOing.
